For family owned companies, the average life span is 25 years or less (familybusinesscenter.com, 2010).  So with Eaton Steel celebrating our 60th Anniversary this year, the Goodman family decided that a special celebration was due.  On Sunday September 8, 2013 the employees of the Eaton Steel family of companies gathered at the Detroit Zoo to celebrate Eaton's 60th Anniversary.

Employees were encouraged to bring their families and the turnout was great as nearly 500 people were in attendance.  The day turned out to be a fantastic day with the sun shining and temperatures in the mid 70's.

“We just had a blast! It was awesome, we must have walked the Zoo three times!!” said Lee Davis, Purchasing Agent for Eaton Steel.

The day's activities included a classic American Picnic with dogs, burgers, potato salad, baked beans, and cookies as well as games and prizes for kids, a photo booth, face painters, and a caricaturist.  The company also purchased an annual pass to the Detroit Zoo for each family.

Jenna Sheahan, Purchasing Agent for Eaton Steel, said, “It was a great day, the face painters and the caricaturist were fun.”
